Using light in photography can do a lot to a picture. It can set the mood, as well as draw attention to a certain part of the photo. Under the Same Stars by Acacia Johnson does both of these and more. The lights in the town immediately draw the eye’s attention to that area. Also, the warm, orange lights contrast the cold, blue snow surrounding the town and give the image an almost cheery feel. Lastly, the lights in this photo add meaning to the title Under the Same Stars. The lights in the town could represent stars, and the surrounding snow almost resembles a night sky. The lights used in this picture add meaning to the picture and give it a well-defined mood and contrast.
